Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is a former fishing village and now considered the tourist capital of the Costa Brava. Lying 70 km away from Barcelona, this town covers 48 square kilometers. Its 7km coastline is paradise, thanks to its five scenic beaches, all of which have been awarded the blue flag for quality.

The city boasts a broad range of cultural and natural attractions. Because of its rich history, which dates back to the third century B.C., Lloret is an interesting showcase of growth and progress. It has managed to preserve its traditions without compromising modernity.

There are lots of activities in Lloret, all of which promise fun and entertainment to people of all ages. Sports facilities, shopping centres, hotels, bars and restaurants zero in on the city’s mission to promote its heritage. Traditional town festivities and folklore also run throughout the rest of the year. The busy promenade Passeig del Mar is ideal for strolls. The night life in Lloret is first class, with fabulous entertainment and gastronomic delights.

Notable structures include the Pujol-Farnés House and the so-called Liceu. The Sant Romŕ Parish Church is also a must-visit, with its high altarpiece painted by Seraphin, aided by Jaume Fontanet, as well as its Gothic portico and belfry with Romanesque evocations. In the promontory separating the city from the beach Platja de Fenals are the remains of Saint John's castle.

Truly, Lloret has lots of secrets to offer the wide-eyed traveler.
